Being a carefree teenager is normal, but taking care of body hygiene is most important to get rid of all the unpleasant odors that your body gives out. There are some basic ideas to take of your body hygiene regarding body hair, perspiration, body odor and greasy hair.
1. Body Hair: Body hair appearing in new places on your body is something very common. This is the time the hormones get into action. Now whether you want to get rid of that extra hair by shaving or leaving it like that is up to you. A girl might want to shave her legs or get rid of her under arm hair or she might just let it be. A guy might want to get rid of the facial hair or grow a moustache and beard. It is all up to an individual and how comfortable they are with it or without it. If you want to get rid of your hair, irrespective your a guy or girl, there are some options you can use. You can use a traditional razor, but make sure the blade is new. You can either use a shaving gel or cream, it will make shaving easier and smoother. Using a hair removing lotion is another option too. When shaving, make sure you go slowly and do not hurry as you might bruise or cut yourself. If you are a girl and feel that you have hair over your lips, its probably hair that people do not notice and if you think you want to remove it, then threading is a good option. For facial hair, you can first try out oil free facial moisturizers, they make softer and invisible. If that does not work, then you can either try a hair removing lotion especially made for facial hair or you can bleach you facial hair. If you are a girl and feel that you have too much facial hair which causes anxiety, then it is advisable to visit a dermatologist or skin specialist. It might be a medical case which is known as polycystic ovary syndrome. You can remove your facial hair through electrolysis.
2. Perspiration And Body Odour: Perspiration comes from the sweat glands in your body. During puberty, they seem to get more active than before and begin to secrete different chemicals into the sweat that gives it a stronger smelling odor. You will find this odor under your arms, your feet and genitals. It is best to wear cotton garments as they absorb sweat easily. Having a bath at least once a day with a mild soap helps keep away bad odor and bacteria. If you are conscious about body odor, use a deodorant with antiperspirant. They come in roll-ons, sprays, creams and sticks. Be careful how you use them. Some deodorants work better at night and some during the day. body hygiene is must even if you are using a deodorant, so make sure you have a bath everyday.
3. Greasy Hair: Each strand of hair has it own sebaceous (oil) gland. Suddenly you find your hair has become very oily. It is during puberty that these glands produce extra oil. Use a shampoo which is especially made for greasy hair. Use warm water and lather your hair with shampoo but do not rub scrub very hard as you might scratch your scalp. After washing, use a conditioner for oily hair. Do this at least once a day.
